You should put river rock in that strip outside the kitchen window.. it’ll look great, help with drainage and easy to maintain. Put bird bath on it and some potted plants, ready to go 😊

A large area of stone can make the area hot in your area. That's good in the winter, but make sure about that with your stone contractor before installation. It could affect your siding! Lighter colors are the best for their reflective properties!

I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking the light colored pebbles with a fountain. A bird bath or yard art would be nice too. Mulch requires replacing etc. Pebbles with landscaping fabric will last as long as you live there.

I was given good advice by a gardener once and i use it to this day. Dead or lightly prune things that need it but leave it a year before removing anything unless it`s invasive. This gives you all 4 seasons to see what flowers and blooms and what has been planted and comes up through the year. You have some beautiful plants and bushes and it would be criminal to just rip it all out. If you must dig stuff up and get rid, get some pots and pot up items you are removing and put them on Facebook or a local free site. People are always crying out for plants as they are so expensive.

Got tickled when she was getting revved up. lol I've seen videos of bull terriers doing amazing zoomies. You need to get her on video zooming. lol I would definitely make a pollinator garden in that area in front of your kitchen sink. Perrenial garden of flowers that attract butterflies, bees, etc. Add a pretty bird bath. Make it something so beautiful that you want to just stand and stare as you do your dishes. In areas where you're concerned about drainage you could add some ground covering that flowers, to help absorb some of that water.

Outside your kitchen window I would do mulch with plastic liner for weed reduction. Then knockout roses up to the back area that Julian wants cleared out. I would put a trellis up to divide the garbage can area from the knockout roses. Those roses don’t need any maintenance except to keep pruned and your lawn person can do that. I have knockout roses around my entire wrap around porch and get so many compliments on them. They are good for cutting and having fresh roses just about any time you want. The more you cut the roses the more blooms you get. The area that Julian wants cleared out I would defiantly put down plastic for weed control then put small river rock down. I have that on either side of my sidewalk coming to my front door. They are perfect for drainage and large enough not to move with rain. I would not plant anything there but put large potted plants if you want plants or flowers. Whatever variety you like. Personally I think you would not enjoy a hummingbird feeder that far a way from your window. They would be very hard to see. I have a hummingbird feeder hung from my eave right outside my kitchen window. It is so awesome to be able to see them up close. Your whole property is awesome and whatever you decide will be beautiful I’m sure.

The easiest plants we have are hostas, canna lillies, asparagus ferns, mexican petunias, bromeliads, lemon thyme and foxtail ferns. They go in the ground, I barely look at them and they survive year after year, even after the surprise 8" of snow we had in florida this past winter. I like lemongrass too, BUT it doesn't like a lot of water, so we can't run the sprinklers where they are. They have to be cut back every year, but they always grow back in.

I really enjoy watching your videos. As for the area you are asking about, if it for drainage, I would not put mulch I would put river rock🎉

Instead of mulch in that area, put decorative rock. It will allow for drainage but won't wash away.

My grandmother had Snowball bushers all over her back yard. I loved them as a kid

Morning glories to go up the fence and then a dry creek rock drain to meet the other back one with some ornamental grass on each side of the drainage ditch

No! You will have morning glories until Jesus comes back and they spread like crazy!
Research something less invasive, like climbing roses that can be trimmed if they get too aggressive.

Instead of mulch I would do gravel outside the kitchen window. And add a bed for willow at her fav window

You could also put hanging flowers on the fence so you have a pretty view. The river rock is a really good idea as well.

Really love watching you two! Amazing couple, making great videos. A water feature opposite the kitchen window would be lovely. Please include more footage of Willow! 😊

Instead of mulching that drainage area near the carport, put some landscape fabric down and some pretty gravels. Maybe get some white gravels. That shouldn't easily wash away, it looks good and also helps with drainage. Not sure about plants to keep or get rid of but I would probably use google lens on some to identify and maybe just tidy up some of the pretty ones. Since you asked I thought I would give my opinion too. Have fun!

Use river rock or some kind of decorative stone in the landscaping outside the kitchen window. Once and done, won't wash away and drains well.

That spot would look cute with a little bistro table and a couple chairs.

I think rock outside kitchen window. Then you could do some cool planters with flowers. I have collected galvanized tubs to plant in since our soil around the house is not good.
